FFE completes relaunch of Talentum 16000 flame detectors for hazardous environments

FFE has announced the completion of the relaunch of selected models within its Talentum® 16000 flame detector range, restoring full availability of its detection solutions for hazardous-area applications.

The relaunch includes the return of the UV/IR2 Ex d model, meaning the Talentum 16000 portfolio is now fully available once again.

The range offers both Ex i (intrinsically safe) and Ex d (flameproof) options, designed to meet the demands of a wide variety of high-risk industrial environments.

The company said the milestone allows customers to standardise on a single, established flame detection platform, with assurance around product availability, certification and long-term support. It also underlines FFE’s focus on delivering robust and intelligent detection technologies suited to challenging operational and environmental conditions.

The refreshed line-up includes three key models: the 16521-00 Talentum 16000 UV/IR2 Ex d, the 16579-00 Talentum 16000 IR3 Ex i, and the 16571-00 Talentum 16000 IR2 Ex i. Each is designed to provide reliable performance and certified protection in explosive atmospheres.

The Ex i series combines multi-spectrum sensing with intrinsically safe design, offering certified protection for Zones 0, 1 and 2 under ATEX and IECEx standards. The IR2 and IR3 models are capable of detecting flames quickly, even in partially obscured or complex conditions, while advanced signal processing reduces false alarms caused by sunlight, hot surfaces or electrical interference. Flexible configuration options also support easier integration across industrial sites.

Meanwhile, the UV/IR2 Ex d model uses a combination of ultraviolet and infrared sensing to deliver fast and accurate flame detection. Certified for use in Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22, the detector features a flameproof design, built-in self-testing and adaptable output options. It is intended for use across sectors, including oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, aviation and liquefied natural gas facilities.

FFE said the completed relaunch improves product continuity and availability across global markets, enabling organisations to deploy a consistent and compliant detection solution. Key features of the range include multi-spectrum detection technologies, strong immunity to false alarms, flexible system integration and compliance with international hazardous-area standards.

“Completing the Talentum 16000 relaunch marks an important milestone for FFE,” said Thomas Codd, Product Manager at FFE. “Customers can now specify a single, trusted flame detection platform across a wide range of hazardous-area applications, with confidence in performance, certification and long-term availability.”
