Xenon Building Technology Acquires Vistec to Expand Life Safety Portfolio

Xenon Building Technology has acquired Dublin-based gas detection specialist Vistec, expanding its life safety portfolio and bringing its combined workforce to 75 employees.

Announced on 8 October 2026, the acquisition marks Xenon’s third since its current shareholders took ownership in 2023. The company reported growth of more than 500% during this period through a combination of organic expansion and acquisitions.

Founded in 1986 and based in Blackrock, County Dublin, Vistec specialises in the design, supply, installation, calibration and maintenance of fixed and portable gas detection systems for customers across Ireland.

Its systems monitor flammable, toxic and explosive gases, refrigerants and oxygen levels. They serve a wide range of environments, including pharmaceutical and industrial facilities, hospitals, educational institutions, government buildings, hotels, commercial premises and research laboratories.

The acquisition complements Xenon’s existing range of fire detection and alarm systems, emergency lighting, access control, CCTV, intruder alarms, nurse call, intercom and smart building technologies.

Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Carlow, Xenon provides electronic life safety, security and building technology systems to customers throughout Ireland.

The company expects the acquisition to broaden its service offering, enabling customers to access fire, security and gas safety solutions through a single provider. The combined business will also strengthen its capacity for installation, maintenance, calibration and nationwide customer support.

Vistec serves as the Irish agent for GDS Technologies and maintains systems from manufacturers including Medem, Flamefast, Coster, S&S Northern and Duomo.

Despite the change in ownership, existing Vistec customers will continue working with the same engineers. Current service contracts, calibration schedules and contact details will remain unchanged, ensuring continuity of service.

Justin Owens, Chief Executive Officer of Xenon Building Technology, said Vistec had established a strong reputation over nearly four decades for technical expertise and responsive service in a specialised market.

He noted that gas detection complements Xenon’s existing fire and life safety solutions, allowing the company to provide customers with a more comprehensive approach to building safety.

Ronan O’Neill, Commercial Manager at Vistec, said the company’s focus had long been on delivering reliable gas detection systems and high-quality customer service. He added that joining Xenon would provide the team and its customers with the support of a growing building technology business while maintaining established relationships and service standards.

Xenon was advised on the transaction by BHSM LLP and Fitzgerald Power, while Vistec received advice from Philip Lee and Benchmark International.

The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
