ICT and KONE Integrate Access Control and Elevator Management for Smarter Buildings

Integrated Control Technology (ICT) and KONE have announced the integration of ICT’s Protege GX access control system with KONE Office Flow, delivering a unified platform that enhances security, simplifies operations, and improves the user experience in commercial properties.

The collaboration brings together ICT’s expertise in access control, intrusion detection, and building automation with KONE’s people flow solutions. The integration synchronizes user records across both systems, allowing for centralized, automated building management.

Through the Protege GX interface, administrators can program access levels, schedules, expiration dates, and credentials—while automatically linking those permissions to elevator cars, floors, and control panels. The system also supports KONE features such as destination control—which groups passengers headed to the same floors to reduce travel time and congestion—and direct elevator call, which dispatches elevators to a user’s assigned floor.

According to the companies, the integration offers several key benefits:

  • Streamlined operations by eliminating the need to manage separate systems.

  • Reduced administrative workload with simplified tasks and fewer redundancies.

  • Enhanced security through centralized monitoring of doors, turnstiles, and elevators with synchronized access event tracking.

  • Improved user experience with a single credential for both doors and elevators.

“This collaboration with KONE is an exciting step forward in intelligent building management,” said Sarah Thompson, Chief Product Officer at ICT. “By integrating Protege GX with KONE Office Flow, we’re delivering a solution that combines streamlined operations, heightened security, and a superior user experience. It’s the future of smarter, safer, and more connected buildings.”

The companies emphasized that the integration directly addresses the challenges facing modern commercial buildings, from managing high traffic and ensuring robust security to boosting tenant satisfaction.
