IDEMIA partners with Samsung to bring mobile drivers licenses to Samsung Wallet

IDEMIA is pleased to announce its partnership with Samsung to bring mobile drivers licenses and state IDs to Samsung Wallet. This exciting initiative leverages IDEMIA’s expertise in identity services and credentials issuance as well as our privileged access to government systems of record. Samsung Galaxy smartphone users will soon have a convenient and highly secure way to store state-issued IDs and drivers licenses within the Samsung Wallet. Arizona and Iowa will be the first states to roll out, with additional states following in 2024.

Mobile drivers licenses are at the forefront of identification technology, with use cases ranging from safe age-restricted purchases to expedited airport security checks. These certified Digital IDs, authenticated and issued by state DMVs, ensure personal information is securely stored on the user’s device, all under the complete control of the license holder, thus elevating convenience and security in everyday activities.

As the global leader in identity technologies, IDEMIA is proud to be recognized as a company that delivers identity with integrity. This partnership with Samsung will enable us to further deliver on our mission to make identity services safer, easier, and more accessible for all.
Matt Cole, EVP Strategic Alliances at IDEMIA

Samsung is working closely with several more early-adopting states and will also collaborate with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on a test program to accept mobile drivers licenses at 25 federalized airports where the technology is currently available.1 A long-time partner of the TSA, and the supplier of TSA Credential Authentication Technology (CAT) readers in 120+ U.S. airport locations, IDEMIA is playing a crucial role in the enablement of this technology.

IDEMIA is currently the leading supplier of drivers licenses in the United States, issuing upwards of 55 million ID cards in the United States, as well as their digital equivalents in six states. A trusted partner to U.S. government agencies for over 60 years, the company has issued 70 percent of all drivers licenses and identification documents in the United States.
