Ziegler Secures Contract to Deliver 18 Firefighting Vehicles to Dutch Safety Region

Ziegler has announced the signing of a new contract with the Safety Region Midden and West Brabant (VR MWB) for the supply of 18 firefighting vehicles. The agreement, concluded in July 2025, continues a longstanding partnership between the company and the Dutch safety region, which has relied on Ziegler fire trucks since 2008. Delivery of the new fleet is scheduled to begin in 2027.

The vehicles will be fully engineered and manufactured at Ziegler’s production facility in Winschoten. The Safety Region stated that the new fleet will help enhance operational reliability and public safety across its jurisdiction, which covers both urban and rural areas in the southern Netherlands. Standardising vehicle specifications is a key priority for the region, allowing for more efficient training, maintenance, and deployment.

Rens de Jonge, Strategic Project Manager at VR MWB, noted that the contract followed a rigorous technical evaluation and collaboration across agencies. He described the new trucks as a vital part of the region’s emergency response strategy, stating that the investment reflects a strong commitment to reliability, safety, and long-term preparedness.

Ziegler outlined the technical specifications of the new vehicles, which will be built on a Volvo FE 4×2 chassis with a 320 PS (235 kW) engine. Each unit will include the Ziegler Z-Cab XL crew cabin and feature the latest ALPAS superstructure, a 2,500-litre water tank, and the Ziegler FPN 10-3000-2HH pump. The trucks will also be equipped with Ziegler’s latest Z-Control operating system.

Additional features include an 80-metre high-pressure hose reel with a flow rate of 200 l/min at 6 bar, the Ziegler Top Integro system, and Z-Vision LED lighting. Each vehicle will carry a 20,000-lumen front LED light bar and a light mast with a 35,000-lumen turn and tilt unit, along with an electric-hydraulic ladder rack.

Rik Feijen, Account Manager at Ziegler Brandweertechniek, expressed pride in the continued collaboration with the Safety Region. He noted that the new order strengthens an already successful relationship and reflects Ziegler’s commitment to delivering high-quality, standardised firefighting vehicles tailored to client needs. The company also emphasised that vehicle design would prioritise continuity with the region’s current fleet to ensure seamless integration.

Ziegler reaffirmed the strategic value of long-term customer partnerships and the importance of incorporating regional requirements into engineering and production.
