KiddeFenwal secures UL listing for Natura inert gas acoustic nozzle

KiddeFenwal has announced that the performance of its Acoustic Nozzle for the NATURA Inert Gas System has received UL Solutions Verification under ID V445408, with the listing valid until October 8, 2026.

The company shared the update in a LinkedIn post, stating that the verification confirms its performance claims through independent testing conducted by UL Solutions.

According to the UL listing, the product is identified as a sound-diffusing nozzle designed to lower the sound pressure level produced during the discharge of total flooding inert gas fire suppression systems. Typical inert gas system discharges can exceed 110 dB when measured at a distance of 3 feet.

The listing indicates that the acoustic nozzle reduces the sound pressure level to 110 dB or less while maintaining the required coverage area and radial throw discharge characteristics for use in the Kidde Fire Systems Natura Inert Gas System.

The verified marketing claim specifies 1/3 octave sound pressure of less than 110 dB at a distance of 3.3 feet (1 meter) at discharge rates of up to 3.03 lb per second (1.37 kg per second).

Testing was conducted by UL Solutions in accordance with ANSI Standard S12.54-2011 and ISO 3744:2010. IG-541 was used as a representative agent for IG-100, IG-55 and IG-01 inert gas fire suppression agents.

The verification applies to several acoustic nozzle models, including 3/4 NPT and 1-1/2 NPT configurations, as well as 3/4 BSP and 1-1/2 BSP versions, each identified by specific part numbers within the UL listing.

UL Verification is described as an objective, science-based assessment that confirms the accuracy of specific marketing claims following an independent review process. The listing also notes that certain product information was provided by Kidde-Fenwal and may include details outside the scope of the claim verification.
