Dafo Vehicle Fire Protection Unveils Carbon Monoxide Sensing System for Electric Vehicles

Dafo Vehicle Fire Protection launched its EV-Garm, a carbon monoxide sensing system designed for electric vehicles (EVs) undergoing repair, and maintenance.

EV-Garm offers protection by detecting early signs of Li-ion battery venting/thermal runaway and minimising potential hazards.

Powered by Li-ion batteries, EVs present challenges like, fire risks, including thermal runaway, which can lead to fires, toxic gas emissions, and even explosions. Traditional fire detection systems often fail to detect these risks early enough.

EV-Garm addresses this gap by providing real-time monitoring and early detection of battery malfunctions, helping workshops ensure the safety of their staff and minimise downtime.

It’s sensors are designed to be placed close to the vehicle’s battery over-pressure valve, ensuring they can detect early signs of Li-ion battery venting. In the event of battery distress or failure, the system will immediately trigger a loud siren, flashing lights, and a notification, alerting workshop staff to take prompt action and follow necessary safety procedures.
