Kidde Commercial has unveiled a series of upgrades and device enhancements to its EXCELLENCE Series fire detection and alarm system, designed to boost performance and user experience.
According to Kidde Commercial, the revamped system introduces innovative features from the Carrier brand, setting new benchmarks in fire detection technology. The system now includes multi-wave, multi-angle smoke detectors, intelligent addressable input/output (I/O) modules, and manual call points, all aimed at improving technical performance, reducing installation and maintenance costs, and enhancing ease of use.
The EXCELLENCE Series has been specifically designed for easier installation and maintenance. Notable features include pluggable connectors for modules and call points, a quick-removable door, and a detachable chassis—streamlining the installation and commissioning process.
“The EXCELLENCE smoke detectors address the root causes of nuisance alarms, resulting in performance improvements and more precise detection,” stated a Kidde Commercial representative. Additionally, all detectors come with optional integrated short-circuit isolation for enhanced safety.
The EXCELLENCE Series I/O modules feature multiple mounting options, pluggable connectors, and local test capabilities for each channel. Manual call points are equipped with dual LED alarm indicators, integrated short-circuit isolation options, and support for both resettable and frangible elements. These features aim to simplify installation and enhance operational efficiency.
Kidde’s 2X-A and 2X-AT panels, introduced in late 2023, bring cutting-edge technology to the EXCELLENCE Series. These panels boast a sleek design, improved durability, and an intuitive interface, making them suitable for environments ranging from lobbies to small control rooms.
The EXCELLENCE Series is engineered for easy migration from legacy systems, allowing phased or full replacement of devices and panels. The system supports network compatibility and uses the same configuration and graphic software as previous models, ensuring a smooth upgrade process.
